Essential Guide To Visiting The Bird's Nest

Visiting the Bird’s Nest, officially known as the National Stadium in Olympic Park in Beijing, is a must-do for anyone exploring the city. Renowned for its stunning architecture and historical significance, this iconic venue offers an engaging experience for visitors. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate your visit and make the most of your time at this architectural marvel.

Getting There

Metro Access: Take Line 8 to the Olympic Sports Center Station (B1 exit). Once you exit, you’ll catch your first glimpse of the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube, but be prepared—they’re quite a distance away! After passing through security checks near the exit, you can board a shuttle bus that circles around the exterior of both structures. However, note that this shuttle does not take you directly to the entrance of the Bird’s Nest, so you will need to walk.

Ticket Purchase: The ticket office is located under three flags at the entrance of the Bird’s Nest, or you can purchase tickets online in advance.

Ticket Prices:

Here, you can pose for photos mimicking Olympic champions, complete with gold medals, flowers, and national flags. Photos are reasonably priced at ¥10 each, printed on high-quality paper, and available for pickup upon exit.

Second Floor: This level includes the Cloud Gold Hall and Flowing Silver Hall, which serve as conference rooms and lobbies, along with a viewing area of the sports venue’s podium. You’ll also find replicas of the “Twelve Animal Heads,” adding a cultural touch to your visit.

Fifth Floor: This level displays props from the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympics and various competition equipment. It’s considered one of the best photo spots in the Bird’s Nest, offering a stunning view of its steel structure. You can take pictures with a replica “torch” and see the original Olympic torch used in 2008, featuring autographs from notable athletes.
