Shichahai Ice Rink is divided into three areas: Qianhai (前海), Houhai (后海), and Xihai (西海). The boundary between Qianhai and Houhai is marked by the Yinding Bridge (银锭桥). Both Qianhai and Houhai rinks are open to the public for various ice activities, but they offer different experiences.

How to Get to Shichahai Ice Rink

Qianhai Ice Rink:

  • Metro: Take Line 6 to Beihai North Station (北海北站), exit at B.
  • Metro: Take Line 8 to Shichahai Station (什刹海站), exit at A2.
  • Bus: Routes 107, 111, and 701; get off at Beihai North Station (北海北站).

Houhai Ice Rink:

  • Metro: Take Line 2 to Jishuitan Station (积水潭站), exit at C.
  • Bus: Routes 5, 55, 83, and 877; get off at Deshengmen Station (德胜门站).

Which Rink to Choose?

Qianhai Ice Rink: The comprehensive area of Qianhai is perfect for all ages. It features fun ice bike activities, ice scooters, and other light entertainment suitable for families and kids. Qianhai also offers a night session for those who prefer evening activities.

Houhai Ice Rink: The Houhai rink is more specialized, featuring different sections:

  • Comprehensive Entertainment Area: Ideal for leisurely skating and family fun.
  • Speed Skating Area: Located on the west side of Houhai, this section is perfect for those looking to try speed skating.
  • Training Area: Found on the south side of Houhai, this area is equipped with professional trainers for beginners looking to learn ice skating.

  • Ice bicycles (冰上自行车)

There are six entrances in total across the two rinks:

Photography Tips

Qianhai : For stunning photos of the Drum Tower and vibrant night scenes, visit the Qianhai rink at night.

Houhai: The Wanghai Tower (望海楼) offers a great photographic backdrop.

Tangfang Café (糖房咖啡): Located at the top of the building, you can capture a panoramic view of the entire rink and the surrounding area.

Comprehensive Area: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Speed Skating Area: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Training Area : 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Qianhai Night Session: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Ticket Prices

Comprehensive Area: 100 CNY (valid on weekends and holidays)

Speed Skating Area: 30 CNY on weekdays, 40 CNY on weekends and holidays

Qianhai Night Session: 100 CNY

Ice Skate Rental: 30 CNY per pair, with a 200 CNY deposit

Note that there are no restrooms available inside the rink, so make sure to prepare accordingly.
