Beijing Universal Resort is the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. The global Universal Studios theme parks include Universal Studios Hollywood in the USA, Universal Orlando Resort in the USA, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Studios Singapore. Beijing Universal Resort officially opened on September 20, 2021.

The Beijing Universal Studios theme park features seven major themed areas: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers Base, Kung Fu Panda: The Land of Awesomeness, Hollywood, WaterWorld, Minion Park, and Jurassic World: Nublar Island. The park also includes 37 rides and attractions, 24 live entertainment shows, 80 dining options, and 30 retail stores.

Tickets and Opening Hours

Tickets: Off-peak season ¥418; Regular season ¥528; Peak season ¥638; Special dates ¥748. Children aged 3–11, seniors over 65, and people with disabilities receive a 25% discount. Infants under 3 enter for free.

Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Universal CityWalk: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM.

Best Time to Visit

The resort is suitable for visiting year-round, with spring, summer, and autumn being the best seasons.

Transportation to the Resort

Location: Liyuan Town, Tongzhou District, Beijing (west side of the Sixth Ring Road, north side of Jingha Expressway).

By Metro: Take Beijing Subway Line 1, Batong Line, or Line 7 and get off at Universal Resort Station.

By Bus: Take bus routes 589 or T116 to reach Beijing Universal Resort.

Useful Information

The theme park entrance and Universal CityWalk both have lockers and luggage storage service centers. Within the main entrance of the theme park, stroller and wheelchair rentals are available.

Beijing Universal Studios has two Family Centers: one is located to the right of the entrance plaza after entering the theme park, and the other is within the medical station in the Kung Fu Panda: The Land of Awesomeness area. The Family Centers provide the following services:

  • Quiet Room: A specially designed room where visitors with cognitive impairments and their families can rest.
  • Nursing Room: Private, lockable rooms for breastfeeding, equipped with chairs.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is filled with innovative attractions, shops, restaurants, and entertainment, featuring magical spells, fantastical creatures, dark villains, and brave heroes. Visitors can explore Hogwarts Castle, shop at the quaint stores on Hogsmeade Street, and dine at some of the most famous restaurants and dessert spots in the magical world. It offers an immersive experience that makes you feel as though you are truly within the enchanting realms of the films and novels.

Transformers Base

Transformers Base is themed around the “Transformers” science fiction film series and is the world’s first theme park area dedicated entirely to Transformers. The attraction features a unique storyline centered around the giant Cybertronian character “Metroplex.” In this top-secret, high-energy tech zone, visitors can join forces with the Autobots to help protect Earth.

Kung Fu Panda: The Land of Awesomeness

Kung Fu Panda: The Land of Awesomeness is inspired by the “Kung Fu Panda” animated film series, bringing the world of Kung Fu Panda to life for visitors. Guests can join Po on his journey to become a legendary martial arts master. Experience the rich and aromatic flavors at Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop, and feel the thrill of kung fu on an adventure with Master Shifu. The entire area is designed around a “Chinese-style legendary experience” and is the world’s first theme park zone dedicated to Kung Fu Panda. Here, you can also visit favorite spots like the Jade Palace, Panda Village, and the Wisdom Peach Tree.

Hollywood Area

The Hollywood area brings the glamour of Los Angeles’ Hollywood Boulevard to life, allowing visitors to feel as though they are strolling along the star-studded Walk of Fame. Wander among towering palm trees and immerse yourself in classic Hollywood scenes, with the chance to encounter movie stars along the way. The Hollywood section also features a special effects production experience called “Lights, Camera, Action!” created in collaboration between renowned directors Zhang Yimou and Steven Spielberg. This attraction blends Eastern and Western cultures, offering a glimpse into the world of film special effects and the magic behind the scenes.

WaterWorld

At WaterWorld, visitors can watch an exciting Universal Studios water stunt show featuring high-speed jet ski maneuvers and dramatic plane crash scenes. The performance combines realistic action and thrilling stunts, immersing you in an exhilarating “water battle” experience. In addition to the spectacular stunts, WaterWorld also offers unique themed dining and entertainment experiences.

Minion Park

Minion Park is inspired by the popular animated film series “Despicable Me.” Here, you can encounter many beloved characters and iconic scenes from the movies. Minions can be seen roaming the streets, port, and town center, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The park also features the premiere performance of the “Sing” tour at the Illuminations Theater, where you can dance and sing along with characters from “Sing.” Additionally, Super Cute Island offers thrilling rides such as the adorable roller coaster and the super cute spinning vortex, providing plenty of fun and challenges.

Jurassic World: Nubla Island

Jurassic World: Nubla Island is inspired by the film “Jurassic World.” Here, you embark on an adventure on the prehistoric island of Nubla, where dinosaurs once roamed. Explore the mysterious tropical rainforest, cascading waterfalls, and enigmatic thirst lakes. Encounter formidable dinosaurs like the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptors, Ankylosaurs, and other awe-inspiring creatures, providing an immersive experience that makes you feel as though you’re truly among these ancient giants.

Universal Boulevard: Although the theme park tickets can be pricey, Universal Boulevard is free to enter and offers a wide range of dining options. Here you’ll find Asia’s largest Piggy Cafe, the first-ever Sushi Burger Bar to leave the U.S., as well as a steampunk-themed chocolate shop, a gourmet kitchen, and a pizza bakery with an open kitchen. The boulevard is open until 21:00, allowing ample time to explore these exotic eateries.

For example, the Qingpi Tree Hotel, approximately 2 kilometers from Universal Studios, offers clean and tidy facilities. The hotel is close to several attractions, including the Han Meilin Art Museum, which is worth a visit if you have extra time.
