Beihai Park Boating Guide Enjoying Beijing's Most Beautiful Season

As the most beautiful season in Beijing arrives, the clear blue skies, gentle breeze, and weeping willows make Beihai Park the perfect spot for a leisurely family outing. Boating on the serene waters of Beihai Park offers a peaceful and enjoyable way to spend time with loved ones, creating lasting memories in the heart of the city. This guide provides all the information you need to make the most of your boating experience in Beihai Park, from transportation tips to details on boat types and pricing.

Transportation to Beihai Park

Parking spaces within Beihai Park are limited, and given its central location, public transportation is highly recommended. The most convenient way is by taking Subway Line 6 to “Beihai North” Station, exiting at B, and walking or biking about 400 meters east to reach the North Gate of Beihai Park.

Boat Docks & Rental Fees

Beihai Park has 11 docks, and there are two key points to note:

If you rent a boat from Dock A, you cannot return it at Docks B, C, or D. You must return it to Dock A.

Boat rental fees are charged by the minute. Make sure everyone is ready before starting the rental period, as waiting time will still count toward your rental.

Fees for Different Boats

It costs 200 yuan per hour for four people (including infants), with a 400 yuan deposit. The boat has a canopy, but it is high, so you may still need sun protection depending on the direction of travel.

Lotus Viewing Rowboat [赏荷摇橹船]: Each boat can accommodate 10 people. The fee is 40 yuan per half-hour per person (adults and children at the same rate) or 60 yuan per hour. For larger groups, renting the entire boat is recommended, costing 380 yuan for half an hour or 580 yuan for an hour.

Operating Hours

The boats operate from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with ticket sales ending at 4:30 PM. For safety reasons, boat rentals will be suspended during high winds of level four or above.
